This Privacy Policy explains how Sociopoint (“Sociopoint”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you use our websites, applications, and services (collectively, the “Services”).
Who this applies to
This policy applies to (a) brands and merchants who connect a Shopify store or otherwise use Sociopoint to manage creator collaborations, and (b) creators/influencers who create profiles, participate in campaigns, or otherwise use the Services.
Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account and profile data: name, email, phone number, handle, password (stored as a secure hash), profile photo, social links, business information, and preferences.
- Creator data: creator profile details, payout details (where applicable), collaboration details, content links, and performance inputs you choose to share.
- Brand data: brand profile details, contact information, campaign details, collaboration terms, and internal notes.
- Support communications: messages and files you send to our support team.
Shopify data (when you connect a Shopify store)
If you connect your Shopify store to Sociopoint, we may access and process store data via Shopify APIs based on the permissions you grant. This can include:
- Orders (read): order identifiers, line items, timestamps, discounts applied, totals, refunds/returns (if available), and limited customer/order context needed for attribution and analytics (for example, shipping country/region or customer IDs). We do not need or intend to collect full payment card details.
- Products (read): product titles, descriptions, variants, SKUs, prices, inventory signals (if available), images/URLs, collections, and tags.
- Discounts (read): discount codes, rules, eligibility constraints, usage counts, and validity windows.
- Discounts (create/manage): if you enable it, we may create or manage discount codes on your behalf for creator collaborations and tracking.
- Store metadata: store name, domain, currency, and other settings required to operate the integration.
Automatic data
- Device and usage data: IP address, browser type, device identifiers, pages viewed, actions taken, referring pages, and timestamps.
- Cookies and similar technologies: used to keep you signed in, remember preferences, improve performance, and understand usage. You can control cookies through your browser settings; some features may not work without them.
How we use information
We use information to:
- Provide the Services, including onboarding, account management, creator collaboration management, and dashboards.
- Power analytics and attribution, including measuring performance of creator collaborations, tracking sales impact, and generating reports based on Shopify orders/products/ discounts and collaboration data.
- Create and manage discount codes (where enabled) for collaboration tracking and campaign operations.
- Improve and secure the Services, including troubleshooting, quality assurance, fraud prevention, and enforcing our terms.
- Communicate with you, including service updates, security notices, and support responses.
- Comply with legal obligations and resolve disputes.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information in the following situations:
- Between brands and creators within Sociopoint: to operate collaborations (for example, sharing creator profile details with a brand, or sharing campaign details with a creator).
- Service providers: vendors who help us host, maintain, secure, analyze, or support the Services (for example, cloud hosting, analytics, error monitoring, customer support).
- Shopify: as part of the integration flow and to access store data and perform actions you authorize.
- Legal and safety: where required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security of Sociopoint, our users, or others.
- Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets.
Data retention
We retain information for as long as needed to provide the Services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Shopify store data and analytics may be retained while your integration is active and for a reasonable period afterward to support reporting, auditability, and customer support, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.
Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your choices and rights
- Access, update, delete: you may be able to access and update certain information through your account settings. You may request deletion of your account and associated data, subject to legal/operational retention requirements.
- Disconnect Shopify: you can revoke Sociopoint’s access by uninstalling/disconnecting the app or removing API permissions within Shopify (where applicable). After disconnection, we may retain certain records as described in the retention section.
- Marketing preferences: you can opt out of marketing emails using the unsubscribe link (service/transactional messages may still be sent).
International data transfers
Your information may be processed in countries other than your own. We take steps designed to ensure appropriate safeguards for such transfers where required.
Children’s privacy
The Services are not intended for children under 13 (or under the age required by local law). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will take reasonable steps to notify you, such as by posting an updated policy with a new “Last updated” date.
